  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate wafer crumbs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • For the Filling:
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate, chopped
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • For the Topping:
  • 4 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Chocolate shavings, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the Crust: In a medium bowl, combine chocolate wafer crumbs, melted butter, and sugar. Press the mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie plate.
  2. Bake the Crust: Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes. Let cool completely.
  3. Prepare the Filling: In a heatproof bowl set over a simmering pot of water (double boiler), combine semi-sweet chocolate, heavy cream, milk chocolate, butter, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir until smooth and melted.
  4. Pour and Chill: Pour the chocolate filling into the cooled crust. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the filling to set.
  5. Make the Topping: In a heatproof bowl set over a simmering pot of water, combine dark chocolate and heavy cream. Stir until smooth and melted.
  6. Add the Topping: Pour the chocolate topping over the chilled pie.
  7. Garnish (Optional): Sprinkle with chocolate shavings, if desired.
  8. Chill Again: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the topping to set slightly.
  9. Serve: Slice and serve chilled.

Notes

For an extra decadent touch, serve each slice with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
