This Sour Cream and Onion Chicken is a flavorful and easy dinner recipe that’s perfect for busy weeknights. The creamy sour cream sauce combined with onion soup mix creates a delicious and comforting meal.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Chopped chives or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the dry onion soup mix, sour cream, and milk. Mix well.
  3. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  4. Heat olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Sear the chicken breasts in the skillet for 2-3 minutes per side, until lightly browned.
  6. Pour the sour cream mixture over the chicken in the skillet.
  7. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  8. Remove from oven and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
  9. Garnish with chopped chives or parsley, if desired.

Notes

Serve this dish over rice, mashed potatoes, or pasta for a complete meal. You can also add some vegetables like broccoli or green beans to the skillet during the last 10 minutes of baking.
