Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna

Seared to perfection, this Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna features a crunchy sesame seed coating that complements the tender, flavorful tuna for a healthy and elegant meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 ahi tuna steaks (6 ounces each)
  • 1/4 cup black sesame seeds
  • 1/4 cup white sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for searing)
  • Optional: lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic.
  2. Pat the tuna steaks dry and brush both sides with the soy sauce mixture.
  3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Mix black and white sesame seeds on a plate, then press each tuna steak evenly into the seeds to coat all sides.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Sear the tuna steaks for about 1-2 minutes on each side for rare, or longer if preferred.
  7. Remove from heat, let rest for a minute, then slice thinly.
  8. Serve immediately with lemon wedges if desired.

Notes

For added flavor, serve with a drizzle of wasabi mayo or a side of pickled ginger.
