  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Butter, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine sugar, pumpkin puree, vegetable oil, eggs, and water.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  6. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Slice and serve with butter.

Notes

For an extra touch, sprinkle some chopped walnuts or pecans on top of the batter before baking. Serve warm with a pat of softened butter or a drizzle of maple syrup.
