Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Crust:
  • 1 ½ cups chocolate wafer crumbs
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • For the Filling:
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • For the Topping:
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Chocolate shavings, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the Crust: In a medium bowl, combine the chocolate wafer crumbs, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch pie plate.
  2. Bake the Crust: Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes. Let cool completely.
  3. Make the Filling: In a medium saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, cocoa powder, heavy cream, butter, vanilla extract, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture is smooth and thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Assemble the Pie: Pour the chocolate filling into the cooled crust. Smooth the top.
  5. Chill the Pie: Refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the filling to set.
  6. Make the Topping: In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Spread the whipped cream over the chilled pie. Garnish with chocolate shavings, if desired. Slice and serve.

Notes

For an extra layer of flavor, add a thin layer of chocolate ganache between the crust and the filling.
