  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons jasmine tea leaves, finely ground

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, matcha powder, and ground jasmine tea leaves.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
  8. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a stronger jasmine flavor, steep the tea leaves in warm milk for a few minutes before grinding and adding to the dough.
