Marinated Cheese offers a flavorful and easy appetizer featuring cheese cubes soaked in a zesty blend of herbs, garlic, and olive oil. This no-cook dish is perfect for entertaining or as a savory snack.

Ingredients

  • 200g block of firm cheese (feta, mozzarella, or cheddar), cut into cubes
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley or basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place the cheese cubes in a clean glass jar or bowl.
  2. In a small bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, dried oregano, thyme, rosemary, chili flakes, and lemon juice. Stir well to mix.
  3. Pour the herb and oil mixture over the cheese cubes, making sure they are fully submerged.
  4. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to infuse.
  6. Before serving, let the marinated cheese sit at room temperature for 15 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley or basil leaves and serve with crusty bread or crackers.

Notes

For added flavor, try including sliced olives or sun-dried tomatoes in the marinade, and serve chilled or at room temperature.
