Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast, diced
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Cook macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, mix diced chicken with honey and black pepper. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the honey pepper chicken until lightly browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.
  5. Slowly whisk in milk and cook, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in garlic powder, salt, cheddar cheese, and mozzarella until smooth and melted.
  7. Combine cooked macaroni, cheese sauce, and honey pepper chicken in a large bowl or the saucepan. Stir well to combine.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with extra black pepper if desired.

Notes

For extra crispness, bake the assembled mac and cheese in a preheated oven at 375°F for 10 minutes with a sprinkle of breadcrumbs on top.
