Harissa Chicken

A vibrant and spicy North African-inspired dish featuring tender chicken marinated in flavorful harissa paste, perfect for a bold and aromatic meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 3 tablespoons harissa paste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine harissa paste, olive oil, minced garlic, ground cumin, smoked paprika, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add the chicken thighs to the marinade and coat well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for deeper flavor.
  3. Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook chicken thighs for 5-7 minutes per side, until fully cooked and slightly charred.
  5. Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes.
  6. Garnish with fresh cilantro or parsley and serve warm.

Notes

For an extra smoky flavor, try grilling the chicken over charcoal. Serve with couscous or a fresh salad to balance the spice.
