garlic cottage cheese naan

Garlic cottage cheese naan is a soft and fluffy Indian flatbread stuffed with spiced cottage cheese and infused with garlic, perfect as a delicious snack or accompaniment to your meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp plain yogurt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup crumbled paneer (cottage cheese)
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp cumin powder
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • 2 tbsp melted butter or ghee for brushing

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and instant yeast.
  2. Add warm water and yogurt, then knead into a smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for 1 hour until it doubles in size.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix crumbled paneer with minced garlic, garam masala, cumin powder, and fresh coriander.
  4. Divide the dough into equal portions, roll each into a small circle.
  5. Place a spoonful of the paneer mixture in the center of the dough circle.
  6. Fold the edges over the filling and seal tightly, then roll out again carefully into a flattened naan shape.
  7. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden spots appear.
  8. Brush cooked naan with melted butter or ghee and serve hot.

Notes

For an extra crispy texture, cook the naan on a hot cast-iron skillet and finish with a drizzle of garlic butter before serving.
