  • 1 (12-16 ounce) steak (Ribeye, New York Strip, or Sirloin)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Pat the steak dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Once the oil is shimmering, add the steak to the skillet and sear for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer depending on desired doneness.
  4. Reduce heat to medium and add butter, minced garlic, thyme, and rosemary to the skillet.
  5. Tilt the skillet slightly and use a spoon to baste the steak with the garlic butter sauce for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing against the grain and serving.
