Alfredo Sauce

A rich and creamy Italian Alfredo sauce made with butter, heavy cream, and Parmesan cheese that perfectly complements pasta dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, but not browned.
  3. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring frequently.
  4. Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  5. Season with salt, black pepper, and nutmeg if using.
  6. Remove from heat and serve immediately over cooked pasta or as desired.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream, or add cooked chicken or vegetables to make it a complete meal.
