Chocolate Mousse Cake Recipe

  • 1 box (15.25 ounces) chocolate cake mix
  • 1 package (3.9 ounces) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, pudding mix, milk, oil, and eggs. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  3. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  4. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Let the cake cool completely in the pan.
  6. While the cake is cooling, prepare the mousse. In a large bowl, beat the heavy cream with an electric mixer until soft peaks form.
  7. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract and continue beating until stiff peaks form.
  8. Spread the mousse evenly over the cooled cake.
  9. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
