Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet (14.1 oz) frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet.
  3. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and granulated sugar together until smooth and creamy. Stir in the vanilla extract and almond extract (if using).
  4. Cut the puff pastry sheet into 9 equal squares.
  5. Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each square.
  6. Top the cream cheese mixture with a spoonful of cherry pie filling.
  7. Fold two opposite corners of each square towards the center, pinching to seal. Alternatively, you can fold the square in half diagonally to form a triangle, pinching the edges to seal.
  8. Brush the top of each pastry with the beaten egg wash.
  9. Place the pastries on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each one.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed up.
  11. Let the pastries cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.

Notes

Serve these pastries warm or at room temperature. For an extra touch, drizzle with a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and milk.
