Cheesy Tuna Melts

Classic Cheesy Tuna Melt

These Cheesy Tuna Melts are a quick and easy lunch or snack. Flaky tuna, creamy mayo, and melted cheese on toasted bread make for a comforting and satisfying bite.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (5 ounces each) tuna in water, drained
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons chopped celery
  • 1 tablespoon chopped red onion
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices bread (sourdough or your favorite)
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, celery, red onion, and lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place two slices of bread, butter-side down, in a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Top each slice with two slices of cheddar cheese and half of the tuna mixture.
  5. Place the remaining slices of bread, butter-side up, on top of the tuna and cheese.
  6. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Remove from skillet and serve immediately.

Notes

For a spicier kick, add a dash of hot sauce to the tuna mixture. Serve with your favorite chips or a side salad.
