Breakfast Rolls

Start your day with these warm and fluffy breakfast rolls, perfect for a weekend brunch or a special morning treat. Filled with savory flavors, they’re sure to be a family favorite.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 6 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped chives

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the warm milk, melted butter, and egg.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a 12×8 inch rectangle.
  7. Sprinkle the crumbled bacon, cheddar cheese, and chives evenly over the dough.
  8. Starting from one of the long ends, tightly roll up the dough.
  9. Cut the roll into 12 equal slices.
  10. Place the slices cut-side up in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  11. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  12. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  13. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  14. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a sweeter version, drizzle with maple syrup after baking.
