Belgian Waffles

Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, Belgian waffles are a classic breakfast treat perfect for any weekend brunch or special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs, separated
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the egg yolks with melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  6. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter to keep it light and airy.
  7. Spray the waffle iron with non-stick spray and pour the batter onto the iron, spreading evenly.
  8. Cook waffles until golden brown and crisp, about 4-5 minutes depending on your waffle iron.
  9. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings such as fresh fruit, syrup, or whipped cream.

Notes

For extra indulgence, serve with fresh berries and a dollop of whipped cream or a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
