Delicious Beef Stroganoff

This classic Beef Stroganoff recipe features tender strips of beef simmered in a rich and creamy sour cream sauce, served over egg noodles. It’s a comforting and satisfying meal perfect for a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 8 ounces cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup dry red wine (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 ounces egg noodles, cooked according to package directions
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add beef and cook until browned on all sides. Remove beef from skillet and set aside.
  2. Add onion and mushrooms to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  3. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Gradually whisk in beef broth and red wine (if using), scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  4. Bring to a simmer, then stir in Dijon mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Return beef to the skillet and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until beef is tender and sauce has thickened slightly.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in sour cream. Do not boil after adding sour cream.
  7. Serve Beef Stroganoff over cooked egg noodles. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

For an extra creamy sauce, use full-fat sour cream. Serve with a side salad or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
