Delight in these fun and crunchy Basketball Pretzel Cookies, perfect for game day or any basketball fan. They combine salty pretzels with sweet cookie dough for a unique and tasty treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups small pretzels (mini pretzels work best)
  • Orange and black decorating icing or melted candy melts

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, beating until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  6. Fold in the mini pretzels gently, ensuring they are evenly distributed.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
  10. Once cooled, decorate each cookie with orange icing to mimic a basketball base, then pipe black lines to create the basketball pattern. Let icing set before serving.

Notes

For extra fun, use orange-flavored candy melts for the basketball base and pair with a cold glass of milk for the perfect game day snack.
