  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with milk and melted butter until combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined to form the dumpling batter.
  5. Fold in 1 1/2 cups of cheddar cheese, garlic powder, black pepper, green onions, and sour cream until well mixed.
  6. Pour the dumpling mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese and Parmesan cheese over the top.
  8. Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, serve with a side of steamed vegetables or a fresh green salad. You can also add cooked chicken or bacon for a heartier casserole.
