These authentic Dutch crepes, known as pannenkoeken, are thin, delicate, and perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert. Enjoy them sweet or savory with your favorite toppings!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter, plus more for greasing
  • Optional toppings: powdered sugar, syrup, fruit, chocolate sauce, cheese, ham

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and sugar.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, whisking until smooth.
  4. Stir in the melted butter.
  5. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat.
  6. Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the hot griddle for each crepe.
  7. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
  8. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use browned butter. Top with powdered sugar and fresh berries for a simple and delicious treat!
