Delicious Apple Fritter Waffle Donuts

These Apple Fritter Waffle Donuts are the perfect mashup of two classic breakfast treats! Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and bursting with apple cinnamon flavor, they’re sure to become a new favorite.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and diced
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Glaze:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, granulated sugar, and brown sugar.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Gently fold in the diced apple.
  5. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pot.
  7. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Remove the donuts from the oil and place them on a wire rack to drain.
  9. Glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  10. Dip the warm donuts into the glaze and return them to the wire rack to allow the glaze to set.
  11. Serve immediately and enjoy!

For an extra touch, sprinkle the glazed donuts with chopped nuts or cinnamon sugar.
