Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Crust:
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 1/4 cup ice water
  • For the Apple Butter Filling:
  • 1 1/2 cups apple butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • For the Cinnamon Oat Topping:
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crust: In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Cut in cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Gradually add ice water, mixing until the dough just comes together. Form into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Make the Filling: In a medium bowl, whisk together apple butter, heavy cream, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until smooth.
  4. Prepare the Topping: In a separate bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Assemble the Pie: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pie crust to a 12-inch circle. Transfer to a 9-inch pie plate. Crimp the edges.
  6. Pour the apple butter filling into the crust. Sprinkle the cinnamon oat topping evenly over the filling.
  7. Bake: Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is set. Let cool completely before serving.
